Clean clothes

The collapse of the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh, in which 1134 textile workers lost their lives, took place ten years ago. While the fashion companies washed their hands of it, the surviving workers shook the world’s population. They testified to the degrading working conditions, exploitation and coercion in the factory. Under pressure from consumers, NGOs and unions, the case eventually led to a major international breakthrough.

What has changed on the ground since then? And where do things continue to go wrong today? What needs to happen for working conditions to change substantially? And how can we, as consumers and organizations in the field, make a difference?

On the agenda:

  • Achact vzw – “Rana Plaza, never again?”
  • Laura Eliaerts (ACV) – The Chain Care Act
  • Opening of the exhibition Clean Clothes by WSM. With photos by Lieve Blancquaert.
  • Solidarity meal at the long table
