Housing: a favour and not one’s right?

The lack of affordable housing means that people with low incomes often do not have the opportunity to find good housing. There are many ways people can exclude and discriminate against potential tenants. Many people feel like the door is slammed in their face time and time again. The current housing policy offers no solution.

Werner Van Mieghem, Coordinator of the Brussels Association for the Right to Housing, gives us an overview of the situation in Brussels: where is it going wrong and how can it be improved? Koen Trappeniers, Director of Welzijnszorg, explains why and how Welzijnszorg campaigns to change the situation.
